Whilst waiting for daylight.

Saturday 18th November somewhere between Floro and Molde.

Sunrise 8.49am. Sunset 4.05pm. Not much time to take photos.  White peaks  beginning to appear on the mountain tops. Scenery becoming more spectacular.  Postcard pretty villages clinging to rock faces, lighthouses everywhere so that ships aren’t caught unawares.  Very rugged coastline.  So beautiful.

We had some rough seas last night, our first night at sea.  Not rough enough though, to fling us from our  beds.  The same can’t be said however about the past two hours.  The sea was incredibly rough as the ship crossed a particularly awful patch of water.  The ship swayed and heaved, as did some of our passengers.  Enough said.  Just put fingers in ears to block out the sounds, and look the other way! The North Sea is living up to its reputation of being one of the roughest in the world. My Sea Legs motion sickness tablets work like a charm thank goodness!!!!

The food on board is to die for.  Absolutely spoiled for choice. We’ll come back to Australia 10 kgs heavier!  The staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.

Our cabin is good, although not big enough to hold our suitcases.  We unpacked our gear and stowed it in cupboards and put our luggage into storage.  We have a window, so I spent a good half hour watching Bergen drift away into the night.

Pete’s just come in from another shuffle around the promenade deck.  He says it’s snowing lightly.  A sign of things to come.  When we were out on the deck earlier in the day, the wind was so strong that it was blasting the freezing rain painfully into our faces.  We were rugged up with many layers on, just like Sarah Lee.

You wouldn’t be dead for quids.  We’re off for a spot of lunch if I can detach Pete from his camera.

Take care and stay safe.  Ilze (and Pete) xo
