Lutheran cathedral Tromso

Tromso to Svolvaer

Sunrise 10.11am. Sunset 1.29pm. 0C.

Ilze took the photos to day, my camera is exhausted.

We went ashore after dinner last night to go and look at the old Lutheran cathedral in Tromso. Lots of people were off to the concert in the Ice cathedral and due back at midnight so we took our time wandering about and arrived back at the ship about 9.00pm to see the gang-way being raised, lots of arm waving and yelling went on and they let us back on.  We had missed the notification that a corporate group had boarded and were being sailed around the island and we were nearly stuck on a cold dock until they returned at midnight.

Today has been overcast and the early snow has turned to rain even though we are still north of the Arctic circle.

At Harstad we went ashore to see the Hurtigruten museum and wandered around the SS Finmark, one of their earlier ships now drawn up onto the beach and with a covered walkway into the museum. Captain Pete took control on the bridge but despite my best efforts I could not get  the old girl back into the water.

I was reminded of the bear skin yesterday.

This is not how it should end for the poor old thing.

Enjoy Ilzes pictures.

Pete.
