After four events in a row, we’ve earned our rest day. A sleep in, a leisurely breakfast, then off to check out a few more sights in Oamaru, where we have one more night to stay before heading to Queenstown via Naseby tomorrow. It’s a glorious sunny day perfect for strolling and sightseeing.
Serenity – the public gardens, which the longer Sprint courses visited, but Ilze and I missed out on. Truly beautiful with its Chinese garden and bridge, autumn foliage, and reflections.
We deemed the pies at the bakery worth another visit, and made a furry friend.
Steampunk – weird and whacky! The best bit was the Portal, where you stepped into a tiny enclosed room and stood on a small platform, then watched the magic created by lights and mirrors. Amazing.
Sunshine – it’s now mid afternoon and everyone is curled up in a cosy chair, sleeping in the sun. Any minute now they are going to wake up, blink, stretch, and utter a loud Miaow.
