LIFE AT THE POINTY END

LIFE AT THE POINTY END.

Ilze and I took off for our European Adventure late on Saturday afternoon having faced the scorn and  pointed barbs hurled at us by the Street O mob when we failed to venture out on the course due to the pouring rain, but we were all frocked up in our posh travel clothes as we were about to fly Business class to Istanbul (due to a fortunate partially free upgrade) and every one knows that it is a the pointy end of the aircraft.

Our almost new Airbus A380 was deliciously large and sparsely occupied, Ilze and I had separate window seats, each almost as large as our current suite in the Sunlite Hotel Istanbul (though it does have Bosporus views.) Doubly delicious as the food was great, came with a Cote de Rhone for the smoked salmon and a cognac with the chocolate gateaux and I had absolutely no feelings of guilt over the small Gran Marnier that I had with the mousse in the business class waiting room.

The seven and half hours to Singapore flew by, Ilze even managed three hours sleep, the 10 and a half hours to Istanbul was a bit grimmer, an older 777-200 series and its age was showing but it was still miles better that anything we have flown before.

We even arrived fresh enough to speed through Istanbul’s huge new airport in good time and thus got to our hotel before our room was ready and so had to go for a walk and look at other fabulous pointy things.

But after a pointedly lighter lunch we might call it a day.

Pete.
