With a relatively early finish (notwithstanding my 20-25 minutes worth of errors), we had time this afternoon to visit the no 1 tourist attraction – the Monarto Safari Park. This is an open range zoo with mostly African animals, and in what was a very appealing drawcard, you are driven around in an airconditioned coach. It was slightly strange to be on an “African safari”, but driving around the same terrain I’ve spent the past two days orienteering in. Giraffes have a definite advantage when it comes to spotting controls from a distance – but as Pete pointed out, the gaiters would cost a fortune, and where would they put their SI sticks?? By the end of the tour, I was feeling almost human again, and I came up with some new collective nouns. Oh, and we also crossed the Murray Bridge, in Murray Bridge.
