Friday 13th September 59.57N 141.26W
After another rough night crossing from Kodiak Island to the mainland Ilze and I spent a happy few hours on shore in the town of Seward. We visited several unusual places that included the Blue Moose gift shop, the Sew N. Bee Quilt shop and Safeway supermarket. Who knew.
Back on board for another long night of rock n roll we were woken by a loud boing, the ship had struck ice. We were inside the Icy Bay inlet and heading to the foot of the Guyot Glacier. An 8 kilometre wide monster with three different leads pouring ice and water into the bay some of which our artic built ship was nuging playfully out of the way.
Being Friday the 13th our usual weather luck held and it poured all day.
I decided to go on the zodiacs for a closer look, being of the opinion I could not get any wetter than standing out side in the rain on the observation deck.
I was wrong.
