Unlike a few walkers I have not been using earbuds to play music or whatever, so today was a bit noisy as most of the route was alongside roads. A few patches of wooded areas and quiet backroads were the best bits of today’s route. I also saw a long section of original wall that probably most people miss as it wasn’t really signposted and had no parking. Pics below.
Most walkers seem to be heading west, so I pass many each day with a quick “Good morning”. Today I caught up to no one on the path, nor was I passed by anyone so it was a pretty solitary 6 hours of talking to myself (not that I bother listening to myself).
Now over the hump (literally as well as figuratively), I managed a good 23 km despite 353 m of climb which was long and not so steep. I finished up at the Robin Hood Inn where the prices did not seem to be daylight robbery (unlike the price of petrol here). Next leg will see me back in Newcastle CBD before the final push to the east coast.
