CRAGGE VALE, MYTHOLMROYD, HEBDEN BRIDGE.

No we are not speaking Welsh, theses are the three towns near our farm on the Yorkshire moors.

Last night we descended partway into the Calder Dale, down the longest continuous descent on British roads and had dinner in the Cragge Vale pub after which we took a short stroll of two tenths of a mile to the nearby church and the first old headstone we looked at was that of Hannah Crowther. Cue eerie music. Crowther was my mothers maiden name and she was from around these parts.

Pete’s family name. Crowther

We had a good nights sleep in spite of the wind blowing across the moor which probably drowned out the call of the Hound and then descended to the town of Mytholmroyd the site of yesterdays double sprint which we had decided not to do.

We continued on to Hebden Bridge and competed in the East Pennines Orienteering Clubs Urban League event. Full colour map, siac, canal barges and onion bargies in the Sunday market to finish.

A successful Ilze returns to down load

Description of Onion Bargies does not appear in google. Take sliced onion mix with flour flavoured with curry and deep fry.

Stay tuned for Ilze’s return to Street O.

Pete. Who was leading when we left.

Good thing they kept you off all those contours. Otherwise stiff drinks as well as onion barges would have been called for.
