Getting Better

Another quick update to say I am feeling much better this morning, fingers crossed by tomorrow I will feel fine. We plan another very easy rest day today, just to make sure things have settled properly. Ian has made various forays to the supermarket etc. The nearest one is well stocked with GF food, and there is a GF cafe a short walk sway. Nothing much else to report for now.

Update for Ilze – the curse of the washing machine strikes again. After 10 minutes of beeps, flashing lights but no washing, plus swearing and hair tearing, we had no idea how to make it work. A nice lady came in, turned the knob and pressed a button, and off it went. Turns out we were turning the knob the wrong way. Or our Spanish didn’t quite have the right tone to it. Anyway we now have clean clothes on the way – hooray!

Where is Ilze when I need her? Shades of Venice 2012

LATER … a taste of Argentina

We ventured out for late lunch. We are surrounded by pastry shops. It was time to sample the National Dish – empanada. I asked for one with beef but got spinach and cheese. Must start to learn some Spanish. The same shop has an excellent array of sweet treats, including a rather wonderful chocolate brownie.

After lunch it was time to shop for dinner. Our local supermarket is Carrefour, the French chain which is found all over the world. They have shelves full of gluten free food at very reasonable prices so Ian has cereal, bread, pasta and biscuits. I decided we should indulge in Argentina’s other National Dish- steak. For less than $6, I bought two pieces of excellent rump steak, which we pan fried at home, with vegies. I could get used to this.
