Last night, after a dinner where we had a great conversation with a mother and daughter from the US West Coast, Ian went for a night time walk. Here is what he saw:

Never waste the sunshine is an old Norwegian saying (along with “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes”). We took heed of it this morning when the rain cleared and the sun came out. Yes, the sun does shine in Oslo!
We went for a walk around Aker Brygge, and saw:
- Scandi-cool architecture
- Sculptures everywhere – including a Captain-munching one with serious teeth
- Trees and flowers – some real, some not

Next we went to Akershus Fortress, and saw:
- The Akershus Castle, complete with guards and cannons
- Views from the ramparts, including the Holmenkollen ski jump, which was invisible yesterday

Ian ran back to the ship while I meandered at a considerably slower pace, enjoying every bit of the rare Oslo sunshine. The city had surprised us at every turn and we were sorry to leave.
After we departed, the bow was opened up and we were able to enjoy the splendid scenery of the Oslo fjord from this vantage point, while our ship glided smoothly along towards Copenhagen. We’ll be there in the morning.
